Manhood:

As I have chosen Manhood as my theme and title for this project i will need some possible outcomes and visual starting points.
I have complied a list of outcomes which I can pursue in surface pattern.

Packaging- Men’s grooming products, Alcohol wrappers similar to the trash to treasure project, Stoke city merchandise such as for scarfs or a background for a match day programme.

Interior- Continuing with the sports theme I could look at an interior of a changing room as they tend to be really dull and bare and I could create a wallpaper or design to fill the space. Linking back to the typical man lifestyle I could design for a gym interior or barbers interior. Car interior would be another big one to design for as men are hugely tied in with the mechanics industry and so I think it would be a huge area for me to explore.

Gift wrap- I could explore emotions and the big talking points about men’s mental health and suicide statistics and create a design to create awareness. With the wrap I could look at someone like Paul smith who did a project with Mini cooper and Porsche and created an exterior wrap for a car and the interior.

Ceramics- I would have to explore the different visual starting points for me to plan a ceramics design.

Fashion design- Football kits or bright visual art onto everyday men’s clothing to break the stereotype of men’s clothing.

I also have found a list of 50 things which every man should own and I have documented the ones which I can use as visual studies.
